My children, and now my grandchildren, have been the source of a lot of laughter but also wisdom.

This past Thanksgiving, I had just sat down in my comfy chair when my 5-year-old granddaughter pulled my cap off my head and said “the rule is no hats on in the house.” I replied, “but your brother has his hat on…” She looked directly at me, and with a hand on her hip said, “Well, he’s an Aggie….” I laughed and laughed! I’m guessing her daddy (our son) has taught her a lot of rules that don’t apply to Aggies! 🙂

The same granddaughter, a few months earlier, was riding in the car with her mom. Apparently, mom got frustrated over something, so with hands extended (palms out facing mom) the granddaughter said: “Mom, be calm, be patient, and DON’T FWEAK OUT!!” While I also laughed at that video (several times!), I thought: That was some great advice for these troubled times. We should pay attention to her!

I was reminded of the Bible verse in 1 Timothy 4:12 that says: “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity. “That verse is a reminder to me that I need to pay attention to the kids that I come in contact with. They can provide both laughter and wisdom!

Go be with the kids! Have some laughs and gain some wisdom! Remember, Be calm, be patient, and DON’T FWEAK OUT!!!
